If we want children who listen, we must teach them how to do it. In order to teach them how, we need to
know how to listen, too!
We want our children to come to us when they need someone in which to confide. If we’re too busy or too critical, we discourage them from sharing their innermost thoughts with us. Developing our listening skills makes us more approachable parents, and builds our kids’ self-esteems by making them feel that what they have to say is valuable and important.
